CBORD Introduces New Advanced Pattern-Fixing Feature

For Immediate Release

May 2, 2006

Ithaca, New York—The CBORD Group, Inc., the world's leading provider of software solutions for food and nutrition management systems and cashless dining, has successfully launched a new advanced pattern-fixing feature for hospital clients.

Part of CBORD’s Nutrition Service Suite® (NSS), the advanced pattern-fixing feature can automatically adjust quantities and portion sizes, as well as add or remove foods to correct a patient’s selections in order to meet a meal goal. Foods are added or removed according to system rules that can be set for various "fixing concepts," such as whether to attempt to correct the existing selections by increasing the portion size of an item or by adding more foods from a desired set of diet courses.

"Pattern-fixing is important in today's healthcare environment because often time there are not enough personnel to manually touch every tray. Pattern-fixing is effective in saving time, money, and resources," explains Dolores Saile, System Administrator at Albert Einstein Medical Center. "From a patient connection perspective, having trays with the right number of carbohydrates, for example, is a teaching tool for a newly diagnosed diabetic patient, as well as a reminder for a returning patient of what a healthy meal consists of for their diet."
