North Carolina A&T State University Adds IP-Based Public Address System
For Immediate Release
February 17, 2009
Ithaca, New York—The CBORD Group, Inc., the leading provider of campus card and integrated security solutions to colleges and universities, is pleased to announce that North Carolina A&T State University (N.C. A&T) in Greensboro, NC, has expanded its use of CBORD® solutions by implementing network-based public address technology from its partner, communications leader Digital Acoustics, LLC.
Digital Acoustics® provides IP-based audio message delivery via intercom and public address notification. Universities can easily access networks of intercoms and paging devices from a variety of devices including computers and IP phones.
N.C. A&T has plans to integrate the Digital Acoustics solution with its existing security technologies from CBORD, including the CS Gold® campus card system, CS Access™ access control solution, and CS Notify™ emergency notification software. The integration will reduce labor and improve notification timeliness by simplifying the process of sending a message via multiple media, including cell phone and email notification, point-of-sale menu displays, and public address announcements. It will also allow the university to choose between sound files and text-to-speech configurations, making it easy to customize delivery methods according to varying needs. Operators may speak live or play recorded audio.
"Given the strategic partnerships with CBORD and Digital Acoustics, we are now able to achieve new levels of functionality and capability that would not otherwise exist," says John Matherson, Manager, Aggie OneCard Center, North Carolina A&T State University.
"We are very pleased to offer N.C. A&T a public address solution that makes message delivery simple and effective," says Chris Coffin, CEO, Digital Acoustics, LLC. "Our flexible and scalable solutions integrate seamlessly with the CBORD technologies already in use on campus, providing a cost-effective solution for campus-wide security management."
"The team at A&T is committed to utilizing the latest technology to proactively safeguard its student population," says Cindy McCall, Vice President, Marketing, The CBORD Group, Inc. "The addition of Digital Acoustics and its integration with CBORD security solutions will make it even easier to protect its entire campus community."
