Founded by Tom and Rita Clune in 1947 in their hometown of Paterson, New Jersey, The Brownstone is one of the first catering-only service companies in the country. The Brownstone has grown from a small family-owned bar to a banquet house that can accommodate up to 1,000 guests. As retirement grew closer for the Clunes, they worried about the fate of their beloved Brownstone House. Sharing this concern was Tommy’s brother, Albert Manzo. Tommy and Albert both envisioned a bright future for The Brownstone House, so in 1979 the Manzo family took ownership. Today The Brownstone House has gone from people getting together for chicken wings to cocktail hours with lavish tables, elegant weddings on beautifully manicured gardens, and off-premise catering special events.
