This presentation will show how we automated a process that took a full day to complete to run in about thirty minutes. Location Group Mapping is key to queries that tally sales data to create transactions/invoices for fee collection and also creates transactions for reimbursing sales to our customers. A basic understanding of SQL statements will help to understand how we accomplished this.

The University of Maryland Dining Service has four convenient shops on campus that use MICROS 9700 point-of-sale terminals. The c-shops have a third-party inventory system that allows for automatic price updates and inventory. To allow for UPC-code scanning, we needed to send the UPC codes and prices to MICROS for the appropriate revenue centers. This was done using the MICROS SQL 8700. This session will explain how the University of Maryland used SQL 8700 to import data into MICROS, formatting the data using a code written in Python.

Wireless Parking
In the summer of 2007 Carnegie Mellon decided it was time to implement parking access control through its CS Access system. One of the key selling points for our project was we were going to keep the costs low by implementing our parking gate control using Schalg’s wireless access control technology. Come join us to see why and how we decided to go with this new technology, how we designed and planned for our installation, and what successes and challenges we encountered along the way.
