UGC 2009: CBORD Excellence Awards

At our 30th annual User Group Conference (UGC), The CBORD Group, Inc., presented its Excellence Awards to two client organizations and an individual for outstanding achievements throughout the past year. These clients were honored not only for their innovative uses of CBORD products, but also for their service to the greater CBORD user community.

Visionary Award

The Ohio State University received the Visionary Award in recognition of its innovative use of CBORD solutions to improve service and reduce costs in Campus Dining Services. The university uses Foodservice Suite to manage menus, recipes, and purchasing across its many dining operations from a single database. Central ordering makes it easy for units to forecast production needs individually, then order centrally to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Furthermore, Ohio State uses online solutions such as Webfood, NetNutrition, and NetCatering to offer its university community the high-quality services expected by the students of tomorrow.

One CBORD Award

The One CBORD Award was given to the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas for their smart planning and integration of CBORD’s Cashless Solution, Foodservice Suite®, and Nutrition Service Suite®. Management has installed interfaces that maximize efficiencies, including an accounts payable interface that allows invoices to be paid quickly, thereby maximizing possible GPO discounts. CBORD’s Order Scheduler was implemented to automatically look at service menus for all areas, as well as the current inventory levels (par levels, on hand) to generate purchase orders automatically. The staff also utilizes Order Transmission, eReceiving, NetHIMS™, and Unit Orders. Texas Health management can show measurable results, including improvements in productivity, lower expenses, increased revenue, and improved employee satisfaction and patient safety.

Above & Beyond Award

Jason Rossi, Director of One Card and Campus Security Systems at the University of San Francisco, received the Above and Beyond Award in recognition of exemplary service to his own university and the CBORD user community. He is responsible for technology solutions to manage one-card operations, alarm monitoring, online ordering, and access control involving wired, wireless, and offline readers. Furthermore, he shares his knowledge with other CBORD users through customer listservs, user group conference presentations, and one-on-one consultations with other universities, making him an ideal candidate for this award.
