UGC 2010 - Excellence Award Winners

At CBORD’s 31st annual User Group Conference (UGC), The CBORD Group, Inc., recognized three outstanding clients for their ingenuity in using CBORD systems and their dedicated contributions to the CBORD user community.

One CBORD Award
Illinois Institute of Technology

The Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) won the One CBORD Award for embracing CBORD’s mission to provide a wide range of integrated solutions to improve clients’ operations. IIT’s Auxiliary Services department’s goal is to provide the best service possible to the students and campus community. CBORD products such as Odyssey PCS™ and Odyssey HMS™ handle IIT’s housing accounts, facilities, meal plans, and activities, while CBORD’s CS Access™ Link and the NiceVision surveillance system from NICE Systems help monitor security on campus. Using reliable, well-integrated systems from CBORD and its trusted partners has allowed IIT Auxiliary Services staff to focus on serving the needs of the campus constituents instead of worrying about how to make software work for the campus.

Visionary Award
Laguna Honda Hospital

Laguna Honda Hospital received the Visionary Award this year for using CBORD solutions in accordance with their mission of providing culturally competent care to all residents. Located in San Francisco, CA, Laguna Honda Hospital serves a diverse population. While it can be challenging to serve people from multiple cultures out of one large central kitchen, CBORD software such as Foodservice Suite® and Nutrition Service Suite® makes the challenge more manageable. Dietitians use CBORD software to individualize nutritional plans for each resident, creating unique and specific plans to accommodate each person’s food allergies and preferences. The hospital is also committed to its sustainable food movement, which is in line with city-wide initiatives; CBORD software allows Laguna Honda Hospital to know what percentage of food is sustainable and organic.

Above & Beyond Award
Sharon Solomon & Graham Gulian, NY Presbyterian Hospital

In recognition of their dedication to improving their site’s use of CBORD food and nutrition service products, Sharon Solomon and Graham Gulian (Graham has since left) from NY Presbyterian Hospital received the Above & Beyond Award. By partnering with CBORD management and representatives, Sharon and Graham took the initiative to identify areas where their organization was not using CBORD’s products to their full potential. For a multi-site organization that serves approximately 1.6 million meals per year, increasing automation, improving operations, and reducing inefficiencies are crucial. Thanks to Sharon and Graham’s leadership, NY Presbyterian Hospital is well on its way to achieving those goals; Graham estimates that the site will realize food cost savings in the range of $1 million to $1.5 million this year.
