The use of biometric readers for access and payments is a growing trend on college campuses. Vanderbilt University worked with CBORD and IDEMIA to install facial recognition readers at an all-you-care-to-eat dining hall. It’s a seamless process for students who are enrolled. They simply walk up to the turnstile to have their biometric credential read. Once authorized, they are granted access and a meal is deducted from their student plan. All of this takes place in under a second.
