It’s Time to End Food Insecurity

With Swipe Out Hunger and GET CBORD Student

Did you know…

  • 1 in 3 college students is food insecure*
  • 13% of community college students are homeless*

Student hunger is real. And we’re here to fight it.

CBORD has joined forces with Swipe Out Hunger, a nonprofit organization working to end college student hunger. Together, we’re helping campuses create meal donation programs to help students in need.

How Does it Work?

CBORD campuses with GET CBORD Student are perfectly positioned to start a meal donation program. The donation option displays as a separate selection for users inside the mobile app. When students donate meals, the donations are tracked, pooled, and distributed through the backend CBORD campus card system.

For students experiencing food insecurity, each school provides a discrete method to request dining hall swipes to reduce the stigma that typically discourages those in need from accessing resources. Swipe Out Hunger works directly with CBORD-affiliated institutions to develop a thoughtful and accessible program unique to each campus and advises on best practices related to eligibility and distribution of donations.
