The Power of the Student Experience

Three years ago, the University at Buffalo's Campus Dining and Shops received gold recognition in the 2013 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards contest held each year at the National Association of College & University Food Services (NACUFS) Annual Conference. The big win for the university came in the Residential Dining Concept category after the opening of their Crossroads Culinary Center (C3) in October of 2012. The award is granted to schools displaying and outstanding program in dining concepts, marketing, and innovation.

Three years after that win, the University at Buffalo promotes their facility as one of the best in the nation, and given its award-winning past, C3 has become a major selling point for the university. Incoming freshmen across the country are dazzled with modern dining facilities offering an array of culinary options, and dining can be a driving factor when it comes to choosing one school over another to attend in the fall.

Dining can play an especially large role for prospective students with food allergies, which is increasingly becoming a larger chunk of the population. Schools can now offer programs, including NetNutrition® to students, which can allow those students with food allergies or special diets to navigate their dining options on campus without requiring constant assistance from staff. The information is available at their fingertips using their phone or tablet, making the transition to college much easier on the student.

A special congratulations goes out to the following NACUFS 2016 Loyal E. Horton Award winners:
